How to clean a coconut bowl
- Hand wash coconut bowl with lukewarm, soapy water. Be sure to not use hot water or your coconut bowl may crack.
- Never put a coconut bowl in dishwasher.
- Do not allow bowl to soak for any length of time.
- Let bowl air dry or gently wipe with a soft rag.
Using a coconut bowl
- Coconut bowls should never be used for extremely hot foods like soup. Extreme heat can cause the coconut bowl to crack.
- They are best used for cool foods like snacks, salads, smoothie bowls, buddha bowls and more.
- For warmer meals, allow the bowl to reach a warmer temperature before placing warm food inside. Run the bowl under warm water then place food in the bowl. The adjustment in the temperature to be closer to the food will reduce the chance of cracking.
- Never place in a microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator or oven.
Additional coconut care
- Polish your bowls with virgin coconut oil after every 10-12 uses. This will keep your bowl from getting too brittle and bring back the beautiful natural shine.

Can you put a coconut bowl in the microwave?
No, you should never put your coconut bowl in the microwave. The extreme heat can cause your bowl to crack.
Can you put a coconut bowl in a dishwasher?
No, our coconut bowls should never go in a dishwasher. The rough hot water and scrubbing will diminish the longevity of the bowl.
Can you put hot food in a coconut bowl?
We do not recommend putting food that is too hot in your coconut bowl. This might include foods like soup or stew that are typically served very warm. Foods that are room temperature or colder are best.
My coconut bowl looks dull – what can I do?
If you have been enjoying your coconut bowl more than you thought you would, you might notice it lose its sparkle and shine. Simply rub some extra-virgin coconut oil on your bowl every 15-20 uses to keep it looking like new and keep it protected.
- Use a soft paper towel or sponge
- Place a small amount of coconut oil on the towel or sponge
- Rub gently on the inside and outside of the bowl
- Let it sit for an hour or two until all the oil is absorbed
My coconut bowl has stains, will they come out?
Depending on the type of stains there are a few things you can try to remove them. If the traditional cleaning method above does not remove the stains you can try some of the following options.
- Baking Soda
Soak bowl in water and baking soda and slowly stir it around the bowl. If this does not work you can try to boil some water, mix with baking soda and gently rub the bowl. - Vinegar
Soak bowl in a mixture of half water and half vinegar. Let sit for about an hour and rinse with water. - Lemon
Mix a tablespoon with hot water and let bowl soak for about 10 minutes.
